Team 1 : Simulation and Characterization of Alloys (SCA)

Team leader : Dr. Said MESKINE

The research activity of this team addresses the concerns of companies that use materials such as alloys. Several research themes are directly related to industrial alloy manufacturing processes. Numerical simulation of alloys and the production and physical and mechanical characterization of materials have been developed. Analyses by spectroscopy, X-ray, and optical and electron microscopy are carried out. Analysis and improvement of the properties of certain alloys also fall within the team's expertise. The team aims to promote master's and doctoral training: heavy equipment and software are made available to postgraduates to promote research.

Team 2 : Material Behaviour under Cyclic Loading and Contact Mechanics

Team leader : Prof. Hocine GUECHICHI

The expertise of the second team centres on mastering the behaviour of materials and improving the fatigue resistance of surface-treated parts. Predicting the residual stresses introduced by surface treatments is also part of the team's expertise. The team takes an active part in the training of doctoral and master's students.

Team 3 : Materials Processing and Characterization (ECM)

Team leader : Dr. Charef ABBES

This team has expertise in the processing of new granular materials, in analysis by microscopy and image processing, in improving the physico-mechanical performance of materials, in the study and analysis of materials by modelling, and in analysis by DTA, X-ray, and optical and electron microscopy methods.

Team 4 : Simulation and Modelling in Multiscale Materials Physics (SMP2M)

Team leader : Prof. Abdelkader BOUKORTT

Use of first-principles methods based on DFT, with codes such as Wien2k and methods such as FPLO and FP-LAPW, to predict new physical properties with a view to designing new optoelectronic components, LEDs, lasers and optical sensors. Study of the behaviour of materials as a function of vacancy defects, changes of symmetry or stacking, substitutions, or doping with various impurities, in order to obtain new materials with new magnetic properties (DMS) for spintronic applications. At the macroscopic scale: use of the SILVACO software and thermal and electrical characterization of semiconductor materials and multilayer components.

Team 5 : Magnetic Compounds and Alloys (CAM)

Team leader : Dr. Hamza ABBASSA

The research activity of this team focuses essentially on the magnetic properties of alloys. The team aims to promote master's and doctoral training: material resources (equipment, PCs, software) are made available to these postgraduates to promote research.
